Sporting Schools Program

What is it?

Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children’s participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.

Sporting Schools programs are provided free to children and their families to help students build the confidence and capability to be active for life.

To help achieve this, Sport Australia has partnered with more than 30 national sporting organisations (NSOs) and one NSOD – Deaf Sport Australia (DSA). There is a program for primary schools, and a targeted program for Year 7 and 8 students in secondary schools.

Deaf Sports Australia is currently partnered with the following NSOs:

  • Athletics Australia
  • Basketball Australia
  • Bowls Australia
  • Golf Australia
  • Tennis Australia
  • Touch Football Australia

We are continuing to work with other NSO’s to develop partnership relationships as well. You are also able to request a program directly with DSA on sporting program option with an NSO.

Before each new school term, Sporting Schools Program open up their grant application rounds for a period of two weeks. Schools interested in rolling the sporting school programs can apply for these funding.
